Tupelo Honey Café – Asheville, NC

Sims was retained by Tupelo Honey Café in 2009 to author the iconic Asheville restaurant’s first cookbook, Tupelo Honey Cafe: Spirited Recipes From Asheville’s New South Kitchen, published by Andrews McMeel’s Kansas City offices in 2011. Working in tandem with the restaurant’s owners and the executive chef, she concepted and led strategic development of the book as both a cookbook as well as a signature Asheville memento.

As a result of her work, she was retained by Tupelo Honey Café to oversee its development of mission, vision and brand development and has served as its chief marketing representative in development of advertising, public relations, branding and social media. She assisted in the development, design and opening of the restaurant’s second location in spring 2010, followed by locations in Knoxville, Chattanooga and Johnson City, TN; Charlotte and Raleigh, NC; and Greenville and Myrtle Beach, SC. Today Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen and Bar has 15 locations across the country including restaurants in Denver, CO, and Frisco TX.

During this active expansion of the company, she was made Vice President of Marketing Communications and also authored a second Andrews McMeel-published national cookbook, Tupelo Honey Cafe: New Southern Flavors from the Blue Ridge Mountains in 2014. Tupelo Honey Southern Spirits & Small Plates, which highlights the restaurant’s craft cocktail expertise and why Southerners drinkwhatheydrinkwhentheydrinkit was published by Andrews McMeel in 2017.
